This Saugerties Light keepsake is handcrafted in the U.S. from ¾” thick wood with a detailed front design and a written description on the back. It can set neatly on a shelf, desk or narrow ledge such as window or door trim. Group it with other Cat’s Meows to create your own little Village! Look for Casper, our black cat mascot, sitting or reclining within the design.
On the back - The first lighthouse in this location was built in 1836, and was replaced by the current lighthouse after it was damaged beyond repair some thirty years later. Saugerties Light was in service in 1869. Then in 1954, after 85 years of continuous service, it closed and was abandoned for more than 20 years. Fortunately, years of conservancy efforts have led to a handsome restoration of Saugerties Light, for overnight guests to enjoy.
