The Robbins Reef Light Station is a sparkplug lighthouse located off Constable Hook in Bayonne, Hudson County, New Jersey. along the west side of Main Channel, Upper New York Bay. The tower and integral keepers' quarters were built in 1883. It replaced an octagonal granite tower built in 1839. The U.S. Coast Guard owned and operated the light station until the 2000s.
The structure is also called Kate's Light for Kate Walker who "manned" the station alone after the death of her husband Captain John Walker in 1886, until 1919. Objections were raised because she was only four feet, ten inches, and weighed barely one hundred pounds. But she proved her worth by keeping the light burning and rescuing as many as 50 people blown into the reef.
This ¾" thick wooden lighthouse keepsake is handcrafted in the U.S. with colorful details. It can sit neatly on a shelf, wainscoting, or window/door trim to remind you of a special place you've visited or dream of visiting someday. A short description is written on the back. Look for Casper, our mascot black cat, taking up residence within the design. This is the sign of an authentic Cat’s Meow!
