This lighthouse features the life of a famous woman light keeper. Robbins Reef Light was built in 1839. John Walker received the first keeper's appointment. When he died, his German immigrant wife, Kate, applied for the keeper's appointment. Objections were raised because she was only 4'10" and weighed barely 100 lbs. But she proved her worth by keeping the light burning and rescuing as many as 50 people blown into the reef.
This Robbins Reef Light keepsake is handcrafted in Ohio from ¾” thick wood with a detailed front design and a written description on the back. It can set neatly on a shelf, desk or narrow ledge such as wainscoting, window or door trim. Group it with other Cat’s Meows to create your own little Village! Look for Casper, our black cat mascot, sitting or reclining within the design.
