Devil’s Lake State Park is located 2 hours west of Milwaukee in Baraboo, Wisconsin. It was founded in 1911.
Fifty years prior to becoming a State Park, Devil’s Lake was a popular vacation destination for families from Madison and Chicago.
Originally, created by glacier deposits it is thought that Devil’s Lake’s sandy bottom are deposits from the glaciers that existed an estimated 12,000 years ago.
The Natural Conservancy designated Devil’s Lake State Park as one of the Last Great Places which is a list of only 77 places in the world. Wow!
