Acadia National Park preserves the natural beauty of a part of Maine's coast, mountains and offshore islands, including Baker Island. Originally built in 1828, Baker Island Light towers 105 feet above lobster-rich waters of Frenchman Bay. It is one of the few experimental, solar-powered stations in the U.S. absorbing energy from the sun during the day and guiding mariners at night.
