Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore sprawls across Leelanau & Benzie Counties along the northwestern shore of Michigan.

Our wooden replica of the park sign will remind you of the fun times you've spent along this lakeshore.

A large forest fire on the western side of Lake Michigan made it impossible for a mother bear and her two cubs to stay, so they were determined to swim to the other side of the lake. During the long swim, both cubs lagged behind. The mother made it safely to the shore, but her cubs did not. In her desperation, she still waits for he cubs to appear. The Great Spirit created two islands, North and South Manitou, to commemorate the cubs, while the winds of time have gently brushed sand over the mother bear. Now know as Sleeping Bear Dunes. -Ojibwe or Chippewa legend

We handcraft this sign from 3/4" thick wood with colorful details printed on the front and the story about Sleeping Bear Dunes on the back.

It's ready for you to set on a shelf, bookcase, windowsill, desk or anywhere within your view. Then when you catch a glance of it during your day...a flood of memories will overtake your mind for a mini-vacation moment!

Look for Casper, our black cat mascot, lounging on the sign.

Handcrafted in Ohio, 450 miles southeast of this National Lakeshore!
