The Buckeyes' first football game was a victory, played on May 3, 1890, against Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio. Ohio State's first home game was played on November 1, 1890.

The Brutus mascot debuted in 1967 in as a huge very crude paper mache buckeye. Through the years, the costume has been revised and updated to the current look. Brutus appears at more than 500 sporting and non-sporting events every year!
