Jacques Telesphore Roman, a sugar planter, bought this home on the Mississippi River for his bride in 1837, acquiring a marvelous landscape along with it. During the eighteenth century, a French settler planted two rows of oak trees from the home's entrance, leading to the river's edge. The trees grew into a romantic canopy, reminiscent of the antebellum South, leading up to the home. Today, the home is open for dining, over-night stays, weddings or special events.
