As the tenth most visited National Park in 2022, 2.908 million people visited Glacier National Park.

A long time ago there were two tribes living on either side of St. Mary Lake.  One day a beautiful maiden from a tribe swam to the small island in the middle of the lake.  While swimming a handsome warrior from the other tribe saw her and decided to swim to the island too.  After a day of great conversation, they became engaged.  On returning to their tribes their families we unhappy with the arrangement.

The following morning the young couple woke early to meet on the island to flee to a land that would marry them.  Once discovered missing, warriors from both tribes chased after them.  The Great Spirit watching the couple showed them mercy by changing them into geese so they could fly away and enjoy life together because geese mate for life.  From this point on, the island in the center of St. Mary Lake has been known as Wild Goose Island.

This keepsake is hand-crafted from ¾” thick wood with a detailed front design and a description on the back. Look for Casper, our mascot black cat, taking up residence within the design. This is the sign of an authentic Cat’s Meow!
