In 1823, Congress authorized funds for the creation of the Pensacola Lighthouse.  A year later, on December 20, 1824, the lighthouse was completed and Jeremiah Ingraham lit the light for the very first time.  His family operated the lighthouse well into the 1950s.

The original lighthouse's light was considered too dim and trees were blocking it made it unsafe.  In 1852 the Lighthouse Board recommended a "first-class seacoast light" to replace the existing Pensacola Lighthouse.  The replacement lighthouse was built one-half mile west of the original and was lit for the first time on New Year's Day, 1859.

Casper, our black cat mascot, is pawtiently waiting to invite you to climb 177 steps up the historic Pensacola Lighthouse for one of the most beautiful views on the Gulf Coast. He is the authentic sign of a Cat's Meow!

We've crafted this lighthouse from 3/4" thick wood with colorful details on the front and its story printed on the back. Made in the USA.
