The aurora belt in Alaska’s great Interior and Arctic regions are among the most active places to see the Northern Lights in the world.
Mid-September to late April are the best months to view them. They intensify around equinox months of September and March, because the Earth’s tilt in relation to the sun. Look to the sky when there is minimal moonlight and clear, cloudless openness to enjoy the light show around 10pm through 2am.
Given the right conditions and viewing locale, these dancing bars of light might shimmer right over head, ranging from subtle green columns to vast red curtains that fill the entire sky.
