For a brief 73 years light beams from the lighthouse at Lighthouse Point extended welcoming arms to ships and sailors returning from voyages from the four corners of the world. The octagonal shape is a Connecticut lighthouse trademark. The New Haven Lighthouse at Lighthouse Point in New Haven is located at the Eastern point of New Haven Harbor. Old Maps show it as Five Mile Point called that because that is the distance between it and the center of New Haven. It was also called Morris Point during the Colonial period.
Today the beacon from the New Haven Lighthouse is dark but the tower remains, greeting ships to New Haven.
Handcrafted in Wooster, Ohio, this lighthouse is cut from 3/4” thick wood with colorful print on the front and a description on the back. Buy it for a friend or add it to your Cat’s Meow collection. It sets neatly on a mantle, shelf, or desk. Or perch it on your wainscoting or the trim above your windows or doors. Look for Casper, our mascot black cat, taking up residence within the design. This is the sign of an authentic Cat’s Meow!
