Situated on one of the highest points in Manhattan, this home was completed in 1765 as a summer home to British Colonel Roger Morris and his family. It offered clear views of New York Harbor, New Jersey and Connecticut.
Once the American Revolution War broke out in 1776, General George Washington and his Continental Officers made it their headquarters from September 14th to October 21st. He would return in 1790 to dine with members of his cabinet. This included Henry Knox, John Adams, Alexander Hamilton, John Quincy Adams, and Thomas Jefferson.
