Officially named the Holland Harbor South Pierhead Lighthouse, this structure was built in 1907 at the entrance to Black Lake. Its unique shape represents the Dutch influence of the local area.

After the Coast Guard painted the lighthouse "beacon red" in 1956, it became popularly known as Big Red. When it was abandoned by the U.S. Coast Guard in 1972, a local group formed the Holland Harbor Lighthouse Historical Commission to restore and preserve this local landmark. It now stands proudly within Holland State Park.

Group this lighthouse replica with the other coastal Cat's Meows to bring the seashore right in your home!

We handcraft it from 3/4" thick wood with colorful details on the front and a story on the back. Look closely, you'll find Casper, our black cat mascot, perched on the edge of the pier just soaking in the sun.

Photo for this lighthouse was taken and provided by Cat's Meow citizen, lighthouse groupie, and Michigan summer resident, Sandy Lea.
