As the second most visited National Park in 2022, 4.73 million people visited the Grand Canyon National Park. 

Located in northwestern Arizona, the Grand Canyon became a National Park in 1919, just three years after the creation of the National Park Service. Carved by the Colorado River, it is one of the world's most spectacular sights. The canyon in 277 miles long and averages ten miles in width from rim to rim. Nearly 5 million people visit the park each year via the South Rim which can be accessed from Williams, AZ or Flagstaff, AZ all year. Overlooks along the South Rim include Grand Canyon Village, Hermits Rest, and Desert View. Fewer people visit the North Rim as it is harder to access and closed during the winter. Activities within the canyon for the adventurous include hiking, mule ride, river running, backpacking and rafting.
