Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine is located in the Baltimore Inner Harbor at the mouth of the Patapsco River. Although this represents the War of 1812, I've included it here because of the American Flag.

While Francis Scott Key, lawyer and amateur poet, was being held on a British ship in the Baltimore Harbor, he witnessed the British Navy twenty-five hour bombardment on September 13-14, 1814 during the War of 1812. He was inspired to write a poem entitled, “The Defense of Fort McHenry”. Within a month, a local music store owner published the poem as a song entitled, “The Star-Spangled Banner”.

In 1925 this fort was declared a National Park, with restoration to its mid-1800s appearance completed in 1933. In 1939, the designation as  Historic Shrine was added.

Today, your visit to this National Park can include helping the park Rangers raise the flag during morning or afternoon flag changing ceremonies.

We handcraft this fort in 3/4" thick wood in our small Wooster, Ohio workshop.

Look closely for Casper, our black cat mascot, he's the symbol of an authentic Cat's Meow!
