Fort Gratiot Light is located in Port Huron, Michigan.

The original lighthouse was built in 1825 at 32-feet high. The surge of ship traffic on Lake Huron in the early 1800s became the need for a light station to guide ships through the waterway. The lighthouse collapsed into St. Clair River in 1828 during a severe storm. In 1829 a new lighthouse was built in a new and better location that made it easier for ships to spot. It's located at the entrance to St. Clair River from Lake Huron. Originally 65-feet high, it was upgraded to its present height of 82-feet in 1862.

This lighthouse was the first in Michigan and is still active, watching over one of the busiest waterways in the world. It is listed on the National Historic Register.

Look for Casper, our black cat mascot, sitting by the front of the lighthouse!

It can set neatly on a shelf, desk or narrow ledge such as window, door trim, or wainscoting. Group it with other Cat’s Meows to create your own little Village!
