The original Josiah Chowning Tavern lasted less than two years and was located somewhere near this location. Little is known about Josiah or its exact location in the 18th century.
At this location it's one of Williamsburg's favorite 18th-century taverns providing Colonial-inspired pub fare in an authentic alehouse atmosphere, offering hearty food, drink, and revelry.
We craft it from 3/4" thick wood with all the colorful details on the front and a story on the back.
Look for Casper, my black cat mascot resting on the steps. He's looking for any way he can get in!
