What do former astronaut Buzz Aldrin, Germanna Foundation and Cat's Meow have in common?
It all started several years back when we created a few Cat's Meow designs for the Germanna Foundation in Locust Grove, Virginia. They were sold as fundraisers to foundation members and visitors to their museum/library.
Sales of the pieces have helped support the Foundation’s historic preservation
...and interpretation efforts as they tell the stories of the Germanna colonists and their descendants. Colonists from Germany were first settled in this area of Virginia in 1714 by colonial Lt. Gov. Alexander Spotswood, who constructed Fort Germanna near the Rapidan River as protection along what was then the western frontier of the Virginia colony.

But...enough of history...let's get to Buzz!
Former astronaut, Buzz Aldrin was in Culpeper meeting with students in his effort to inspire the younger generations to study science, technology, engineering and more. While there, the Germanna Foundation showed up to honor him because of his German descent. AND, Cat's Meow was the gift of choice. You can read the full story with lots of photos HERE.
