St. Marks Lighthouse is the second oldest light station in Florida. The 80-foot tower has been a navigational beacon for over a century and a half, guiding recreational, military, and merchant vessels from around the world to the mouth of the St. Marks River.
The Lighthouse was automated in 1960 and remained an active aid to navigation for vessels on the Apalachee Bay. Although the Fresnel lens remained in the tower, it was deactivated and a modern, solar powered beacon was placed outside the lantern room during a renovation in 2000.
Casper, our black cat mascot, is not feeling very cathletic, purrfectly content to catnap on the lighthouse wall. He is the sign of an authentic Cat's Meow!
Handcrafted by our small workshop crew in Wooster, Ohio, this replica is made from 3/4" thick wood with colorful details on the front and a little description on the back.
